A little bit about Lille...
Lille has a historic city centre and excellent shopping, so it’s a great place to stop, whether you have a few hours or a few days.
The old town with its cobbled streets and cafes is a great place to start and for all the 'culture vultures' the museums and art galleries are wonderful - in fact Lille was the European Capital of Culture in 2004.
Take a look at what Wikitravel website has to say about Lille - there are some travel tips, 'must see's' and good advice on where to eat and what to buy.
If you only have a few hours to spend and you want to see as much of the city as possible, the tourist office have guided bus tours in a variety of European languages including English. You can even book in advance!
A little bit about Paris...
Paris is the world’s most popular tourist city so it's a great place to stay over and take in the sights.
With so much to see you really are spoilt for choice - the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame Catherdral, Sacre Coeur, the Louvre. Take a look at Wikitravel and see for yourself - they have everything you need to know on their website from best way to get around to bars, cafes, restaurants, museums, galleries and places of interest.
If you just want to relax and enjoy the beauty of the city, why not take a boat ride along the Seine? If you want to take in as many sights as possible in a short space of time, the Paris Metro is an excellent (and reasonably priced) form of transport.
